The Young Member Excellence Award recognizes a young member who has demonstrated overall excellence in a variety of areas. It is presented to a member of the Young Members Group who is involved with ANS on a national level, actively advances the goals of the ANS Young Members Group, displays outstanding non- technical skills as well as technical or managerial ability, is recognized by others in their field, demonstrates high quality and safety standards, and positively represents nuclear science and technology to the general population.
Emphasis is placed on well-rounded qualifications and continuing excellence. Candidates with a demonstrated history of these qualities over several years are preferred to those with one or two discrete achievements, although these achievements will certainly be considered.

The Young Members Advancement Award recognizes an individual or group that has made a significant contribution towards integrating young members into ANS as a whole. It is given to an individual or group that has increased membership or participation of young members, created leadership or experience opportunities for young members, trained or mentored young members, raised funding for young members, publicly supported the cause of young members, or taken other actions to get young members involved with ANS on a national level.
Special consideration is given to those whose actions have far-reaching effect, such as impacting large numbers of young members or setting a public example for young member outreach.

For Pitch Your PhD, participants have 3 minutes to summarize their thesis work for an audience outside of their own field, including fellow students and potential employers at the ANS meeting.

Zimmer is a working towards his PhD from North Carolina State University and is planning to graduate in 2020. His thesis focuses on high spatial and temporal resolution modeling of two-phase flow with the goal of improving flow regime transition predictions.
Ishita Trivedi
Trivedi is working towards her PhD from North Carolina State University and plans to graduate in 2020. Her thesis focuses on lead-cooled fast reactors and improving understanding of uncertainties at multiple levels of fast reactor modeling.
